MWC events are Important in the Smartphones event. The Barcelona event of MWC 2019 (Mobile World Congress) is indeed a great one – the world’s most important mobile communications fair. The official kick-off was on 25th February, and the important press conferences where the biggest manufacturers presented their novelties were already on 24th February. What is already clear: This year is the big dual between the foldable smartphones from Samsung and Huawei instead.
Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Fold model in addition to the Galaxy S10 in advance at its Unpacked event, Huawei shows the Mate X at the show. At the MWC 2019 is so well again something going on – also thanks to more news from Sony, Nokia and LG.
A Lot Of People Live At The Fair
A lot of reporters traveled to Barcelona with a team of experts and since February 24th has been reporting live on all keynote speeches and all important news.
Huawei Mate X Is The Star
Huawei Made With The Falthandy Mate X At The MWC 2019 For A Sensation
No, the Huawei P30 Pro, the possible successor to the P20 Pro, was not featured in the Huawei Keynote at the MWC. But that was pretty bad for those present. Because what the Chinese conjured up in Barcelona, one can call a good conscience as the sensation of this year’s Mobile World Congress: With the Huawei Mate X comes in the summer a Falthandy on the market, neatly the Samsung Galaxy Fold introduced a few days ago neat Makes competition.
Equipped with an 8-inch display in unfolded state and 5G, the Mate X shows the way into the mobile future. And with its surprisingly slim design, it also knew how to inspire.
Folding Smartphone Huawei Mate X
But the fans are not the only mouth open because of the technology. Because even at the price that calls Huawei, you have to breathe deeply several times: A whopping 2,299 euros Huawei demands the Mate X. Nevertheless, with the Huawei Mate X, the Chinese show where the smartphone journey goes.
Samsung With The Extra Show
Samsung presented its Galaxy novelties shortly before the MWC at its event Galaxy Unpacked 2019 and thus came before the most important smartphone fair of the year. The highlight of the evening was the foldable Galaxy Fold – unlike the Huawei Mate X is the large display on the inside and not on the outside. But also the fresh cell phone top models Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus, and Galaxy S10e caused a great deal of enthusiasm.
But that was not all: with the Smartwatch Galaxy Watch Active, the headphones Galaxy Buds and the fitness bracelets Galaxy Fit and Fit e the manufacturer had even more equipment in their luggage. COMPUTER BILD has had many of the novelties already in the hands-on test – and also sent the Galaxy S10 Plus through the lab.
Sony Makes On Slim
Sony’s presentation begins with a swipe at the competition, whose devices look more and more similar. Since the new Xperia should settle clearly and be immediately recognizable. And Sony has done that without any notch or hole in the display. As the first of the major manufacturers, the Japanese rely on the 21: 9 formats, both the top model Xperia 1 and the mid-range devices Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus.
The displays are thus longer, without the case width continues to increase. Even with the displayed keyboard is seen by many websites more and games seem more spacious in 21: 9. This is almost cinemascope format and thus cinema for the pocket. Although the entry-level smartphone Xperia L3 has an 18: 9 display, it also speaks the new design language.
Xiaomi – Welcome To Europe!
Gas gives Xiaomi: The Chinese bring their new flagship, the Mi 9, already in late February to Europe, first to Spain. What’s inside, the Xiaomi Mi 9 shows quite offensively: Who buys the smartphone in a special edition, receives a transparent back, can be seen through the camera technology and processors.
The Mi 9 is also waiting with the latest technology, looks chic – and trumps (typically Xiaomi) with a competitive price: For the model with 6 gigabytes of memory 449 euros are due.
Nokia And LG
A real bird of paradise: The Nokia 9 Pureview has five cameras on the back. And otherwise? What does the smartphone community still see at the MWC? LG shows here the G8 ThinQ with particular front camera and display speaker as well as the LG V50 ThinQ 5G. The latter offers a unique feature. Although LG (still) waives a folding mechanism, already offers something similar: Optionally attach a second screen, which then increases the work surface accordingly.
But that’s not a must, as both panels can be controlled separately. The Nokia 9 PureView is also exciting. There are five cameras on the back, as well as an LED flash and laser autofocus – that makes an incredible seven holes! When the photographer fires, all five cameras shoot a photo, but with different exposure and white balance settings. Algorithms should then assemble the different images so that the picture looks particularly dynamic.
Hidden Birds
Anyone who only has eyes for the top models at the MWC 2019 may miss the novelties in lower price ranges – and that does not mean a Samsung Galaxy S10e for 749 euros. But for example a Wiko View 3 Pro. The smartphone has three cameras on the back for wide-angle shooting and bokeh effect, a large 6.3-inch display and generous 6 gigabytes of memory. Cost: depending on model 249 or 299 euros.
If you have a smaller budget, the Wiko View 3 (without Pro) is a cheaper alternative with less memory and lower screen resolution for less than 200 euros. TP-Link tackles the middle class with the Neff’s X20 and X20 Pro models. As with the Wikos, the displays have the hip higher aspect ratio (Neff’s in 19: 9) and a recess for the front camera (Notch).
5G Smartphones
Not only foldable devices, long drawn displays and notches are currently in the smartphone world. 5G is also a big topic at the MWC 2019. But I think we are not yet ready for 5G. The LTE successor is to accelerate mobile connections drastically. 5G is already available in some US cities, and the required frequencies will soon be auctioned off in some other countries, such as Germany, England, etc.
To the fair there are several smartphones to see, which build connections via 5G: such as the foldable Huawei Mate X, the equipment monster Samsung Galaxy S10 5G , the LG V50 ThinQ 5G with second display for plugging, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G with front camera for Extending or perhaps the ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G . And OnePlus also showed its first 5G prototype in this great event.
Wearables And Tablets: Mobile Phone Becomes The Watch
If you look beyond the mobile phone, you will also find exciting products in the wearables and tablets. The Chinese manufacturer Nubia wants to kill two birds with one stone with the Nubia Alpha: a foldable smartphone, which the user can wear on request as a watch on his wrist. In the tablets, Samsung has already introduced two new members in advance.
The Galaxy Tab A 2019 with a 10.1-inch display and aluminum housing is intended as a beginner device. The more expensive 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S5e has better technology inside and is one of the lightest tablets on the market. Also from the South Korean manufacturer are the smartwatch Samsung Galaxy Watch Active and the fitness bracelets Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e.
Router And Network: 5G Mesh And Wireless Ax
A lot is going on in the area of WLAN as well as mobile communications. Especially the new standard WLAN-ax will improve a lot: With a terminal that dominates ax, the pace increases drastically, neighboring routers impede each other less actively when sparks. Also entirely new are mesh functions that make the home network more intelligent, for example, by always connecting terminals to the best access point.
And again, mobile connections with the LTE successor 5G should accelerate significantly. At the MWC 2019, there is new hardware making use of all this technology – such as new FritzWLAN repeaters from AVM like the FritzRepeater 2400, a mobile router with 5G from Netgear and HTC or a WLAN-ax version of the mesh system Netgear Orbi RBK50.
Why Only Smartphones
Lastly, Apart from smartphones, tablets, wearables and WLAN hardware, the MWC 2019 also offers new laptops. Lenovo will be showing three new Windows 10 laptops: the low-priced IdeaPad S340 with the eighth-generation Intel processor and Nvidia graphics chip, the IdeaPad S340 with up to 16 gigabytes of RAM, and the IdeaPad C340 notebook tablet combo.
Huawei is also trying on laptops at a novelty trio with the top model Matebook X Pro (2019), the MacBook Air Alternative Notebook 13 and the chic Notebook 14. These are the latest we brought from the MWC 2019 Released Phones and other gadgets for now.
Wrap Up
This year MWC event is excellent. The technology towards Folding phones and 5G is superior. In My opinion, We will get Lot of 5G Phones in the MWC 2020. Purely, in my Opinion, Huawei Mate X design is better than Samsung Galaxy Fold phone. The Nubia Alpha is terrific. It also has the technology wave of your hand like in LG G8. But Samsung steals the whole show with it’s S10 Series.
