Every Year, Samsung users are excited about the new flagship lineup in the “S” series. But, This year, all of the techies are waiting for the Exynos processor announcement. Even though most of us know about the expected specs, There should be an official statement to confirm it. Rumors suggest the Exynos processor will have a powerful GPU lacking for years. As most of us predict, Samsung Officially announced 4nm Exynos 2200 with AMD RDNA 2 Xclipse GPU. They are proud themself that the GPU can deliver a console-level Graphics experience.

Samsung is planning to release Exynos 2200 on January 11, 2022. But due to some internal delays, They have to postpone the announcement. They didn’t mention any reason for the wait. After a week, Samsung announced Exynos 2200 on January 18, 2022. Even though Exynos processor announcement is usual for Samsung, This Exynos 2200 is a milestone for new technologies.
Exynos 2200 CPU Core Details
The Exynos 2200 is an octa-core processor with Arm V9 CPUs in a tri-cluster layout that includes a performance-oriented Cortex Core X2, three Cortex-A710 balanced cores, and four energy-efficient Cortex-A510 cores. The configuration and number of cores are identical to the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the two other high-end processors that will make their way into the top Android smartphones this year. Details like the speed of the clock and cache aren’t disclosed yet.
The GPU side is more intriguing and The Exynos 2200’s RDNA 2-based GPU is known by an Xclipse 920 and offers “ray tracking technology that replicates real-world light movements.” There’s support for variable-rate shading too. There’s the option for the Cortex-X2 core to be run at 2.8GHz and Cortex-A710 cores to be run at 2.5GHz, and Cortex A510 cores to be run at 1.8GHz as well as 2GHz.

The AMD-powered Xclipse 920 GPU is a hybrid graphics card between gaming consoles. The GPU can power a 4K display at 120Hz Refresh rate, and QHD+ displays with 144Hz. It supports hardware-based ray-tracing as well as VRS (Variable Rate Shading). VRS allows game designers to reduce shading rates for frame areas with fewer changes, resulting in less power consumption. Furthermore, the chip comes with AMIGO (Advanced Multi-IP Governor) to improve power efficiency.

Support for RAM and ROM
The chip supports LPDDR5 RAM as well as UFS 3.1 storage. Samsung claims its new processor can speed up game loading, smoother frame rates, and fast multitasking.
Network
The 5G modem built into the device supports more bands in the sub-6GHz and mmWave than ever before and has the theoretical maximum speed of 10Gbps when using Dual Connectivity (EN-DC) mode. 7.35Gbps for mmWave networks in addition to 5.1 Gbps for sub-6GHz networks. Other options for connectivity include Wi-Fi 6E Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. There’s a separate Secure Element for enhanced security to save cryptographic keys. Upload speeds are 3.67 Gbps for the mmWave network and 2.55Gbps for sub-6GHz networks. On LTE networks that have 8CA technology, speeds for downloading could be as high as 3 Gbps, and upload speeds can reach 422 Mbps.
Camera Setup
AI and ML speed and ML performance, the Exynos 2200 features a dual-core NPU twice as fast as its predecessor. It also supports high-precision FP16 and energy-efficient INTER8, INT16 calculation. The new ISP can drive camera sensors that can reach 200MP or dual camera setups comprising 36 and 64MP camera sensors. It can also simultaneously charge more than four cameras and capture videos the 4K resolution or 4K at 120fps and 8K in 30fps resolution. Additionally, it has an AV1 decoder that allows for efficient playback of videos recorded on Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming services that are compatible with it.

Since the delay makes lots of Rumours that Samsung will ditch the Exynos 2200 this year, but from the official announcements, We expect Samsung will use this processor for some regions in Samsung Galaxy S22. Yes, there is a supply chain delay, and Samsung can’t control the production. That’s why instead of Planned One processor, They are going to the same strategy as using two processors for S22. This is usual; Samsung always uses a Snapdragon processor for the US region and Exynos for International variants. Also, Samsung may not ship the charger for a few areas when they release Samsung Galaxy S22.
